If anyone knows me at all, you know that I am big on budgeting and saving money. I am always anticipating emergencies. Any time any extra money comes in, you can bet your car is going to break down or any unexpected expense will come in. Without fail, every single time!

I’ve been using ClearCheckBook to keep track of my future paychecks, bills and other expenses. It’s been a lifesaver, literally! There is an app version as well so I can always take a look while I’m out and about. I highly recommend this website and the app (if you’re mobile) to keep track of your finances.

I’ve used various apps and websites in the past and none of them come close! ClearCheckBook is easy to navigate, runs smoothly, and allows for you to import/export transactions. If you categorize transactions, there are many ways to view reports on bar charts, for example. It really puts things in perspective!

Family, Summer

Mommy Son Day

I took the day off to spend with Alex today. The local movie theater is doing free movies on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings throughout the entire summer. Alex picked out a few movies he’d like to see so we narrowed it down to two movies. Today we saw The Secret Life of Pets! He’s seen this movie so many times but the excitement of seeing it at the theater is what made us go again! We smuggled in some candies we purchased at the dollar store!

After the movie, we picked up lunch at Subway. I wanted to take him to lunch but did want to stay on the healthier side of things. Most fast food makes my skin crawl but a salad from Subway usually does it for me!

We planned to hit the library next but we were both tired from waking up early to take dad to work so we decided to go home and be lazy the rest of the afternoon!

It was nice to have a day off in the middle of the week. Not really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow but it has to be done! At least the week is halfway over and we can all sleep in on Saturday. I can’t wait!

Goodbye Blue

Blue was the name my mom gave my blue Ford Explorer. She has a habit of naming all the cars she’s ever owned (Goldie, Sam, Red, etc). Blue broke down back in early April on I-75 when I was heading to my brother-in-law’s wedding. Perfect timing, right? I still feel bad! Blue was worked on by K but ultimately could not be saved.

We’ve been trying to sell it for as much as we could get for it. K says it’s worth at least $800. It could be parted out for more. Sadly, code enforcement in our area doesn’t like the truck sitting there without a plate. I had to let it go for $200. I feel like I lost a member of my family! That truck lasted me longer than any of the other cars I’ve had while being in Florida. I will miss it!

I’m still working on saving for a new car but it seems unrealistic to purchase one until tax season. I don’t want to rush into purchasing a cheap car and not have it last me a few years. What are good cars that have lasted you a few years or more?

Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to all the good father’s out there who actually take care of their children!

Today we spent Father’s Day at Koreshan State Park in Florida. K says he used to camp here as a child! Alex and I had never been there so it was a fun experience. The only downside was the influx of mosquitoes. I’ve never gotten so many bites in a one hour time span! It was nice to get a lot of steps in – around 6,000 steps!

I definitely would love to go back armed with bug spray to get more pictures. They were also doing renovations on a couple of buildings so I would love to see them once they are finished!

Second job

I started a second job a couple of weeks ago! Both of my jobs are working from home but this one doesn’t require me to talk to customers on the phone. It was a struggle at first trying to balance both of the jobs out. I thought I could handle working more hours than I really could so I have had to take it down a notch and work them equally. I do have to say that it’s nice to not be as stressed out at just one job. I can feel the stress fading away!

My first job is doing customer service for a big brand and handling orders, returns, and tracking for customers. This requires talking to them over the phone (however, I am awaiting a class to open up for cross-skill training for email and chat!). My second job is rating search results and ads. (If you want anymore information on either work at home job, feel free to email me and I’ll be happy to pass along the details!)

Another graduation in the books!

Last spring my little brother Colin graduated high school here in Florida. I was so happy that I was able to attend and be there for him. I always knew (even if I was in Indiana) that I would find a way down here to see him walk across that stage. So I loved having that experience.

This afternoon my little brother Tyler (in Indiana) graduated and I wasn’t able to attend. I really wanted to be there as I was very close to him during my short time in Indiana. I am so thankful for my family up there who took tons of pictures and videos to share with me!

Tyler! Class of 2017!

The positive part of this post? I will be up to visit my family in Indiana this fall when I go up there for a wedding! I cannot wait! It has been 4 years since I moved back to Florida. It was the best decision for me at the time and still is but I will always miss my family up there!

I feel like the last school year flew by! I can’t believe it’s already summer! I suppose a positive part of it being summer is that we get to sleep in a little bit longer now. My son will be spending the day with my mom while I work so I’m thankful I won’t have him at home running around driving me nuts!

I do have some things on the calendar this summer to take him to do. We joined the summer reading program at the local library. He was able to pick out a book to take home for free. He chose Captain Underpants! We checked out a bunch of books and a couple kid movies.

He’s also spending the night at my mom’s next weekend and hopefully a few times throughout the summer. She can have more time with him and I can have some peace and quiet in the house!

What do you have planned for this summer?

Muse and Thirty Seconds to Mars!

A friend of mine and I went to see Muse with special guests Thirty Seconds to Mars and Pvris in West Palm Beach last night. It was so nice to get away from home and just have mom time! It was about 2.5 hours each way so we had a lot of time to talk!

I had not heard of Pvris before this concert so I’m not sure how good they are but I didn’t really like them in concert. The lead singer tried though! She was nice and talked to the crowd in between songs.

Thirty Seconds to Mars – I really only knew one of there songs (Closer to the Edge) which they played last. I’m glad they played it at all. The lead singer here was hilarious and I wondered what he was wearing the whole time (see above)!

They saved the best for last: Muse. I had an obsession with them about 10 years ago where I watched all their music videos and downloaded all their albums. The past few weeks I created a playlist of my favorite Muse songs in anticipation of this concert. I believe they played 9 of the songs from my list of 16!

School, Sports

Closing ceremony

Last weekend was the closing ceremony for our fourth season of tee ball! Alex has officially aged out of tee ball and I think we are going to take a break from sports for a bit! He doesn’t seem to be as interested in baseball as he used to be. We might try a different sport out in the fall 🙂

I also can’t believe there’s only two weeks left of Kindergarten! Time has flown by this year. I’m sad that this is how it will be – I want him to stay little forever!
